Counseling Corner: Navigating Change With Confidence

As sixth graders prepare for middle school and upcoming state assessments, counseling lessons have focused on building skills to manage stress, relationships, and challenges. Beginning in late January, students participated in lessons on Healthy Friendships, Coping with Worry, and Growth Mindset.

Through discussion, reflection, and shared experiences, students learned how to recognize healthy relationships, manage worries, and understand how their brains grow through effort and learning from mistakes. These lessons support students during an important stage of growth and help build confidence, resilience, and readiness for what’s ahead.

Counseling Corner: Setting Self-Care Goals for Academic Success

Over the past few weeks, our 5th graders set personal self-care goals focused on their mind, body, or fun. Through reflection and goal-setting, students learned how healthy routines—like getting enough sleep, using calming strategies, and making time for fun—can reduce stress, boost focus, and build confidence at school. Most students chose body-focused goals such as better sleep, hydration, and movement, while others focused on mindfulness or planning time for creativity and connection. Families are encouraged to check in at home and support one small self-care habit each week to help these positive routines stick!
