I am so excited to join the team at Gladden Farms Elementary. Even though I’ve only been on campus a short while, it feels like home. Last year, I retired from teaching high school English after working in Exceptional Education as a teacher and case manager at Marana High School. I have wanted to work with younger students for some time now, so I’m happy to continue my career as a counselor at Gladden Farms.

Prior to working for the Marana district, I worked as a teacher and as a counselor for the Amphitheater district. I am a native Tucsonan and attended the University of Arizona where I graduated with honors in creative writing. I moved to the Bay Area after graduating and studied clinical psychology, earning my Master’s degree in 1994 from John F. Kennedy University. My husband and I moved back to Tucson the same year and I began working as a counselor for La Frontera. Though I loved the counseling work, the schedule wasn’t conducive to being a parent of young children, so I transitioned to public education and have worked in this arena for the last 20 years.

My children are grown now, so my husband and I spend time with my mother, Elouise, our dog Chloe, and our friends. We love to travel and experience the outdoors. I now volunteer for the Friends of the Library, and I recommend their book sales wholeheartedly!

I have so enjoyed getting to know the students, parents, and staff at Gladden Farms Elementary, and I’m equally excited for next year. My goal is to support all of our students so that they feel a sense of belonging and feel confident in their abilities. I want our Bobcats to continue to learn and grow as individuals and as a community of learners.

Thank you for the opportunity to be a part of this amazing community!

I grew up in Tucson and graduated from Pima Community College, the University of Arizona, and Walden University with fitness, nutrition, and psychology degrees. I am happily married and have one adult son who attended MUSD for his academic career, a 2340 kid.  I love hiking, being outdoors, and attending any type of sporting event. The Marana area has been my home for over 20 years and I am thankful to contribute and be a part of this community.  It’s an honor to be in a position where I can help support and educate kids to make positive choices for everyday life and academic success.
